Project Status
The founding committee is in the process of securing the requirements to open a charter school in Elko, NV in 2025. We are working to establish a new charter through the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority, secure a classical education curriculum, and develop a plan to move into an existing school facility next year. In addition, we have applied for our 501(c)3 non-profit status with the IRS and have started a fundraising campaign to gather enough money to open the school.
Our Goal
Nevada Classical Academy Elko (NCAE) is working through the critical steps to open a classical education charter school for Elko, NV, and the surrounding communities. We want to provide another school choice for the families in our community.
What is Classical Education?
Classical education in the liberal arts and sciences is a framework of effective and innovative teaching methods to foster high-quality education and improve academic achievement. It is experiencing a resurgence across the country and is the preferred choice by a growing number of homeschool communities, micro-school pods, private schools, and public charter schools. The purpose of a classical education is to develop wisdom and virtue within students so they become lifelong learners capable of mastering subjects with the tools they have acquired, and also active citizens engaged in building, sustaining, and transforming the social fabric of their communities.
